Installing high quality hardwired aux and/or bluetooth in your S170 crown is much easier, and cheaper, than you think. We will be using the Toyota VTR adapter and the ‘TV’ setting on your headhunt to hardwire audio into your Crown.
Items needed:
- Toyota VTR cable (prefacelift and facelift have different connectors, click here to find out which one you need)
- RCA to aux cable + aux extension cable
- Car bluetooth adapter (optional)
How to install:
Crown Athlete/Royal Saloon Sedans & Crown Majesta:
- Lift up the cover on the right side (drivers side) of your trunk. You will find a metal box with cables running to it. This is your TV Tuner box.
Crown Estates:
- Lift up the cover on the right side (drivers side) of your trunk. Lift up the cloth material and unscrew the 2 bolts. Then, take out that large plastic piece to reveal a metal box with cables running to it. This is your TV Tuner box.
2. Unplug the blue plug.
3. Connect the Toyota VTR cable
4. Connect your RCA to aux cable + extension, and run it to wherever you want the aux connector to be.
5. (Optional) Connect a bluetooth adapter to the aux cable.
Which VTR cable should I buy?
Prefacelift s170 Crowns use a different, more rare type of VTR connector, with 14 pins. These connectors can cost anywhere from $25 to $50.
Facelift s170 Crowns use the most common 6 pin VTR connector. These connectors should only cost around $5-10.
